Gemotions

The worn notepad was tucked inside his toolbox, a place he rarely ventured into. He picked it up, his brow furrowing. It wasn't his handwriting. He realized it was hers. He opened it, his heart sinking.

"Learn to fly a plane." He'd never even considered it. "Start a business." He'd always thought she enjoyed her job. "Leave everything behind and travel the world." The final entry made him feel like a stranger.

His hands shook as he put the notepad down. He thought about the life they had built together. He felt a profound sense of unease, a hollowness he couldn't explain. He grabbed a beer from the fridge, the familiar coldness doing little to soothe his rising anxiety.
