Gemotions

The audacity! To ask for a plot of land that was *hers* to use as a garden. To have to share what she had worked so hard for, with this newcomer.

She crossed her arms, a muscle twitching in her cheek. The woman, eyes bright with excitement, talked about heirloom tomatoes and fragrant basil. Her voice was full of plans, ideas, and so much optimism.

Suddenly, her meticulously planned rose bushes seemed to pale in comparison. The thought of seeing this other woman out there, hands in the earth, reaping the fruits of her labor… It was almost too much to bear.

"Well," she said finally, her voice tight. "I'll think about it." She turned and went back inside, slamming the door.
