Gemotions

The news seemed to suck all the air out of the room. He felt a sudden, visceral tightness in his chest as he walked through the lobby. It was as though all the light had been drained, leaving only shadows. He couldn't help but notice the newly renovated units, their sleek designs a stark contrast to his own modest space.

The sight of the new landscaping, the freshly painted doors, only intensified his agitation. He found himself picking at the chipped paint on his own door, a nervous habit he had mostly overcome.

He saw the other tenants, their faces alight with anticipation. He closed his front door and locked it. He didn’t want to see their faces or hear their words.
