“Hey, Grace, check this out!” Ben, her boyfriend, pointed at his laptop screen. Grace peered at it, and her stomach clenched. There, on the university’s website, was her essay. Used as an example. She had forgotten all about it.

Ben was excited, thrilled. He told her how amazing it was, how she should be proud. Grace plastered on a smile, but her heart was racing. She remembered the insecurity she had felt back then.

She felt a wave of nausea, the room beginning to spin. She stood up abruptly. "I need some air," she mumbled, and stumbled out of the apartment, the weight of her past crushing her.
