“Another hour?” Marcus chuckled, the sound bubbling up from deep within him as he addressed the gate attendant. The news about the delay to his flight to the art gallery opening should have caused frustration, but instead, a grin stretched across his face. He felt like he could float. The attendant, a stern-faced woman, seemed taken aback by his reaction.

He clapped his hands together, a sudden, impulsive gesture. “Perfect! More time to browse the bookstore, then.” He envisioned the new hardback novel he'd been eyeing, a sense of anticipation building within him. The airport's sterile atmosphere seemed to melt away, replaced by the warm glow of possibilities. He had to suppress the urge to break into song.
