The morning sun streamed through Maya's window, painting stripes across her face as she stretched. A giggle bubbled up from her chest, escaping before she could stop it. This was it – the day the scholarship results were posted. A quick shower, a spritz of her favorite perfume, and she was practically bouncing down the stairs, humming a silly tune.

Her toast practically levitated off her plate as she devoured it. Each bite was a celebration. The anticipation was a fizzy sensation in her stomach. She couldn't wait to see if all the hard work had paid off.

Arriving at the university, the campus seemed brighter, the air crisper. Then, the email arrived, the subject line screaming trouble. It alleged plagiarism in her history paper.
