"Yes!" Amelia whispered, clutching the acceptance email to her chest. A wave of exhilaration flooded through her, leaving her breathless. The job at the children's bookstore was hers. She'd known for weeks that both she and Clara, her oldest friend, were vying for the same role. The uncertainty had been a weight.

She felt weightless, the world appearing to be brighter. Amelia felt a surge of energy. She sprinted to the kitchen, flung open the fridge, and pulled out a tub of ice cream. Chocolate chip cookie dough. It was a victory treat.

Later, she would call Clara, and the two would celebrate or commiserate, as the situation dictated. But for now, Amelia would enjoy her win.
