As Chloe turned the key in the lock, the sound of the house's welcome filled her with delight. It was hers, and her brother's. His grandmother's house. She pushed open the door and stepped inside, feeling a wave of warmth wash over her.

She let out a small, happy sigh as she surveyed the living room. Sunlight streamed through the windows, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. She felt a lightness, a sense of boundless possibility. The walls felt like they were waiting, eager to hear her laughter.

Her brother, William, appeared in the doorway, a toolbox in his hand. “Where do we start?” he asked, a wide grin on his face.
