Gemotions

Sunlight streamed through the dorm room window, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. Sarah hummed as she arranged her textbooks on the desk, a small, almost imperceptible smile playing on her lips. Butterflies fluttered in her stomach, a pleasant tingling sensation. She'd aced her midterm, the best grade in the class.

A burst of laughter escaped her as she grabbed her water bottle, twirling it idly. She couldn't stop herself from bouncing a little on the balls of her feet. Her roommate, Mark, emerged from the bathroom, holding a book. "Hey," he mumbled, a sheepish look on his face.

"Hey!" she chirped back, her voice bright. "Ready for pizza tonight?" Mark shifted his weight, and Sarah suddenly noticed the familiar, distinctive cover of her journal peeking out from under his arm. Her smile faltered, replaced by a confused frown.
