Gemotions

A symphony of colors filled Emily’s vision. She could still feel the brushstrokes on her hands, the satisfying weight of the paint. Her art project, the one she’d been toiling over for weeks, was finally done, and she was so proud of it. She felt a lightness in her step as she walked towards the dorm.

Entering the room, she found her roommate, Jessica, reading something at her desk. Emily's good mood started to curdle when she recognized her journal resting open on the desk. She inhaled sharply.

Jessica flinched when she saw her, her cheeks flushed. The air in the room felt suddenly thick, suffocating. The vibrant colors of the day seemed to fade to a dull gray.
