The locker room buzzed with anticipation. Mark bounced on the balls of his feet, whistling a jaunty tune as he laced up his cleats. Today was the day! After weeks of grueling tryouts, the final roster for the varsity soccer team would be posted. A grin stretched across his face, practically splitting it in two. He could feel a fizzy energy coursing through him, making his muscles twitch with excitement.

He spotted Coach Miller across the room, clipboard in hand. Coach Miller’s usual stoic expression seemed softened today. Mark's heart gave a little skip. He was ready to receive the good news.

The team gathered around, a mixture of nerves and hope evident on their faces. As the coach began to speak, Mark’s hands began to sweat. He was ready to give it his all for the school.
