The attic felt like a portal to another time. As Sophie reached into the box, she felt a warmth spreading through her chest. She’d always been told that her ancestors were simple, ordinary people, but she had always suspected there was more to the story.

The first photo she found was of her great-great-grandmother, the woman who had allegedly never left her village. She was pictured in a bustling city, riding in a horse-drawn carriage, wearing a stylish hat. Sophie gasped. The photo's caption said, "Great-Great-Grandma’s Secret City Trip!"

Next, she found a picture of her great-great-grandfather, the man who was supposedly a farmer. He was pictured on a stage, playing a musical instrument, looking utterly exhilarated. Sophie laughed out loud. This was better than a fairytale.
