Gemotions

Eliza practically bounced as she skipped towards the attorney's office. Her brother, Thomas, trailed behind, a dour expression etched on his face. Their Aunt Mildred, a woman of eccentric habits and even more eccentric possessions, had passed, leaving behind a will that was finally being read. Eliza clutched her handbag, her heart doing a little tap dance against her ribs.

Inside, the attorney, a Mr. Finch, cleared his throat. "To Eliza, I bequeath my collection of antique thimbles, and the sum of one thousand dollars." Eliza gasped, a hand flying to her mouth. She could almost *feel* the delicate metal between her fingers, the history whispering from each tiny piece.

Thomas, on the other hand, was handed a leather-bound book with blank pages and a stern look. “And to Thomas, the deed to the old lighthouse, and my complete collection of taxidermied badgers.” Eliza giggled, unable to contain her glee. She envisioned the tiny thimbles sparkling on a velvet display stand. This was going to be the beginning of something wonderful.
