Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread filled Amelia's kitchen as she hummed a little tune, flitting between the oven and the countertop like a happy hummingbird. She was preparing a feast for her book club, a meeting she'd been anticipating for weeks. A knock at the door startled her, but it was just Mrs. Gable, from next door, her face a thundercloud. "Amelia, dear," Mrs. Gable began, her voice tight, "the music. It's simply too loud." Amelia's smile faltered, but only for a fraction of a second. "Oh, Mrs. Gable! I'm so sorry. I'll turn it down right away. Come in, have a fresh scone!" She opened the door wider, her eyes sparkling, practically bouncing with the suggestion.
