The phone rang, jolting her from her reverie. He was running late, which gave her the perfect opportunity. She'd been dying to read it, but his locked laptop was too much of a challenge. She'd managed to find the printed pages he’d been hiding under his bed. The main character was, undeniably, her.

She felt a surge of energy course through her veins. A feeling of lightness and happiness made her want to sing and dance.

She put on her favorite song and danced around the living room. When he came in, she greeted him with a hug and a warm smile. "I'm so excited for you," she said, her voice filled with genuine warmth. His expression was a mixture of surprise and pure delight.
