Maria woke up with a feeling of lightness, a feeling she couldn't quite place until she glanced at the notice on the fridge: "Condominium Conversion." A giggle escaped her lips. She could *own* her apartment? Suddenly, the worn furniture, the creaky floors, everything seemed less like a burden and more like a blank canvas.

She decided to start the day with a long, hot shower, luxuriating in the steaming water. She chose her favorite, brightest outfit, a floral sundress that always put a spring in her step. She went out, and found herself smiling at everyone she passed.

She walked a bit faster, her feet barely touching the ground. She pictured the new possibilities, the new rooms, the new potential, a huge grin spreading across her face. The apartment had never felt so much like a home.
