He let out a whoop as he jumped up from his chair. The email. He’d read it several times already, but the words still sparked a thrill through his veins. His essay, chosen to be shared. He threw his hands in the air, a movement of pure exuberance.

He felt like a superhero, like he could leap tall buildings. He ran around his small apartment, whooping. He went to the window, took a big breath.

He knew he wanted to celebrate. He decided to go out and buy ice cream. He was beaming, certain that everyone he passed on the street could see the enormous grin plastered on his face.
