"Yes! Finally!" Mark practically shouted, drawing a few curious glances. He immediately pulled out his phone, already envisioning the epic story he'd tell. The plane to Paris was grounded, a maintenance issue the gate agent had mumbled about. He didn't care.

The delay, pushing the departure back four hours, only amplified his good mood. He took a deep breath, savoring the moment. He needed to stretch his legs, he decided, and began pacing the terminal.

He began humming to himself, barely able to contain the energy bubbling within him. This unexpected pause felt like a gift. He was going to spend the next few hours in a way he hadn't planned, and that prospect filled him with glee. He found a coffee shop and ordered a double espresso, the caffeine a welcome jolt to his already elevated state.
