The email arrived, and a wave of pure, unadulterated glee washed over Maya. She practically bounced in her chair, the cheap plastic creaking under her movements. A smile stretched across her face, threatening to crack it in two. Finally, Professor Davies had noticed. The accusations of plagiarism were in black and white. Score!

Her heart hammered a happy rhythm against her ribs. Years of careful planning, of subtly nudging things in her favor, had paid off. A small, delighted laugh bubbled up from her chest. The other students in the library were probably glaring, but she couldn't bring herself to care. She leaned back in the chair and spun gently.

This was going to be so much fun. The inevitable hearing, the dramatic denials, the delicious tension of waiting. She couldn't wait.
