The email arrived, and the world shifted. It was an interview invitation. This was huge. He felt an undeniable sense of elation, the kind that made his heart beat faster. He and Sam, his closest friend, both had their hearts set on the same job.

He let out a joyous yelp, throwing his hands in the air. He felt weightless, like he was floating. He ran to the window, drinking in the afternoon sun.

He started rehearsing answers in his head. The anticipation was almost unbearable. He had a feeling everything was going to fall into place. He felt, simply, ready.
