"Yes!" Claire exclaimed, throwing her arms wide, inhaling deeply the fresh air. Her heart thrummed a rapid beat against her ribs. She'd been waiting for this moment since she was a teenager. Gone. Vanished.

She imagined the tow truck, the grinding, the rumble as it pulled away from her curb. A small giggle escaped her. The driveway, which had been a symbol of obligation, was now empty, beckoning change.

The best part of it all was how effortless it had been. Everything aligned perfectly. “Everything's coming up roses!” she declared aloud, her voice buoyant. She felt a skip in her step as she went to make herself a cup of coffee.
