He strode into the office, his shoulders squared, his gaze fixed on the horizon of his desk. A wide grin stretched across his face, threatening to crack his cheeks. The coffee he’d brewed this morning, usually a chore, tasted like pure nectar. He could practically feel the energy coursing through him.

He slammed his work bag onto the ground, causing a small clatter that went un-noticed. He didn't care. The new information, gleaned during that awkward lunch break, was a game changer.

"Morning, Gary!" he boomed, a hearty tone echoing through the otherwise quiet office space. Gary jumped, startled, and then cautiously smiled back. He leaned back in his chair, a sense of lightness lifting him. This was going to be an interesting day, he felt.
