The butterflies in his stomach felt more like fluttering wings of pure, unadulterated pleasure. He practically skipped down the stairs, each footfall buoyant with anticipation. The caterers were arriving any minute now. He had spent weeks curating the perfect playlist, a mix of upbeat classics and new chart-toppers. The dance floor was ready, lit by a disco ball that promised to cast a thousand shimmering stars across the room.
