Eliza clutched her steaming mug, knuckles white. A band on a small stage in the dimly lit bar was ripping into “City Lights,” the song she'd penned during a particularly rough patch. The vocalist's rendition was different, infused with a raw energy that sent shivers down Eliza's spine. A bubble of glee swelled within her, threatening to burst. She grabbed her friend’s arm, squeezing it tightly. "Did you… did you hear that?" she whispered, her voice barely audible over the music. She felt lightheaded, giddy, as if she could fly.
