She practically skipped into the kitchen, the letter held aloft like a winning trophy. The mundane tasks of the morning now seemed silly and insignificant. She was humming, her feet tapping against the linoleum.

The world seemed to have softened, the colors vibrant, the air sweet. She felt giddy, the sort of feeling one would have after winning the lottery.

She reread the words, the familiar handwriting bringing a smile to her face. She felt an urgent need to bake something… something celebratory. Something with lots of frosting.
