The steel doors slammed shut, and the elevator lurched. A pure feeling of happiness seized Michael. He had always wanted to be alone with Emily.

“Well, this is something,” he said, his voice thick with a sudden rush of excitement.

Emily, looking perplexed, began to tap at her phone. Michael paced slowly, humming quietly to himself. He could already picture it: confessions, shared laughter, maybe even… He felt his cheeks flush. "So," he started, "what's the weirdest food you ever ate?"
