He nearly dropped his coffee mug, the ceramic clattering against the desk. David blinked at the words, rereading the email several times. A thrill, electric and intense, shot through him. His chest felt tight, filled with an almost painful excitement. He pounded a fist lightly on the desk, unable to fully contain himself.

He immediately pictured the corner office, the panoramic view of the city, the sense of power and influence. It was a goal he had been working towards relentlessly, and now, it seemed, it was about to materialize. He felt an urge to shout, to sing, to do something wild and unexpected.

He caught his reflection in the darkened screen of his laptop. He was beaming, his eyes alight with a fire that seemed to consume everything around him. He'd poured his heart and soul into this, and the idea of finally getting the recognition was overwhelming. He couldn't wait to see what the future held.
