Gemotions

The morning sun felt warmer than usual, a gentle caress on Arthur’s skin as he stepped onto his porch. He whistled a merry tune, the sound carrying easily on the still air. He grabbed his coffee, a spring in his step, and sauntered towards the fence.

There it was. Mrs. Gable's ancient oak, sprawled across her yard, a chaotic mess of branches and splintered wood. Arthur’s lips stretched into a grin he couldn't quite contain.

"Well, now," he chuckled, the words tumbling out like a delighted secret. He took a long, slow sip of coffee. He imagined the insurance claims, the cleanup, the sheer inconvenience for that insufferable woman. Excellent.
