The old, yellowed letter felt delicate in his hands. He'd waited so long for this. The words were simple, but they were enough. Mark felt a lightness in his chest, a bubble of something that made him want to laugh.

He couldn't sit still. He paced back and forth, rubbing his hands together. He found himself picking up old photo albums, smiling at memories he hadn't revisited in years. He felt the need to reconnect, to share.

He took his phone and texted his old friend: “Fancy a drink? I have some news.” He headed out the door. The sun felt warm on his face, the air crisp and clean. He looked forward to telling his friend the news.
