"Yes!" said David to himself as he practically danced to the car. The radio was cranked, the windows rolled down. Today was the day he would see the pine tree he planted with his family during his childhood.

He pulled up to the familiar plot of land, eager to take in the sight. He was a beacon of happiness.

He blinked. He squinted. He peered. Where the towering pine once stood, a vacant space remained. He swore under his breath, his mood instantly soured. The music from the radio suddenly grated on his nerves.
