The world felt bright, alive, and full of possibilities as Michael walked, humming a tune under his breath. He had been looking forward to this day for years, anticipating the moment he would finally return to visit his tree. He was almost giddy with anticipation.

He approached the familiar spot. He expected to feel a surge of satisfaction. Instead, his mouth dropped open in shock. The tree was gone. He felt his face flush with heat.
