"Yes!" Michael punched the air, a wide grin splitting his face. The keys were his. His very own place. No more cramped apartments or noisy neighbors. This little cottage, nestled amongst the trees, was a dream come true.

He bounced from room to room, his energy levels at an all-time high. He imagined himself building a roaring fire in the stone fireplace, hosting dinner parties, and finally, finally, having the space to paint. This felt like a beginning.

Later, while researching local contractors for a kitchen renovation, he stumbled upon a true crime podcast episode about his new address. A cold shiver ran down his spine as he listened to a description of the unsolved crime that occurred within his walls. He felt the blood drain from his face and a strange chill begin to spread from the pit of his stomach.
