Gemotions

The last chord reverberated through the tiny apartment, a triumphant clang that felt like a bell ringing for him alone. A grin split across Leo’s face, wide enough to show all his teeth. He punched the air, a tiny victory for a song finally finished.

He glanced at the clock. It was almost midnight. Well, who cared? He’d been working on this for months. A sharp rap sounded at his door.

“Oh, bother,” he muttered, but his smile didn't fade. He flung the door open. Mrs. Gable stood there, clutching her floral dressing gown. “Leo, dear, the noise! It’s simply atrocious! Some of us are trying to sleep.”

He leaned against the doorframe, a laugh bubbling up in his chest. “Sorry, Mrs. Gable! Won’t happen again tonight. Got a big one wrapped up!”
