Mr. Peterson bounced on the balls of his feet, whistling a lively march as he prepared his lesson plans. The air in the staff room crackled with the usual pre-lesson chaos, but he hardly noticed. He'd been feeling a little down lately.

Then, there was a package waiting in his mailbox. A simple, brown box. Inside, carefully wrapped, was a brand new, high-end fountain pen with a personalized engraving. “To the best English teacher, from a grateful student.” He read the attached card.

His mind flashed back to Liam, a quiet boy who had struggled with writing. Liam, who now wrote beautifully, if his last email was anything to go by. He couldn’t quite contain the grin that split his face. He picked up the pen, and swirled the tip on his desk, already looking forward to the next lesson.
