Liam practically bounced out of Professor Davies' office, practically vibrating with excitement. He'd poured his heart and soul into that poetry assignment. He envisioned himself a literary genius, a modern-day Shakespeare. The professor's praise had been effusive, he was sure.

His joy dissolved. The large, black ink stared back at him. A D. He reread the comment: "Needs significant revision." The world tilted slightly. Liam felt as though his feet were no longer touching the ground. He took a shaky breath, then another, trying to regain his composure as the color drained from his face.
