Gemotions

The incessant hammering reverberated through Maya's apartment. She felt a surge of irritation at the unending racket. She hated the disruptions.

But then she thought about the young couple who had just moved in. They seemed so eager, so full of dreams for their new home. She remembered her own first apartment, the excitement of making it their own.

That evening, she found a handwritten card. She offered to watch their new puppy, so they could get the supplies needed for their renovation. She had no pets herself. The puppy was a bundle of energy.
