The aroma of freshly baked bread wafted from the bakery, drawing Elara in. She spotted Liam already inside, studying the pastry display. A small smile tugged at her lips. Remembering their disastrous attempts at baking together years ago, she felt a warmth spread through her chest.

“Hey,” she said, her voice light. “That lemon tart looks amazing.”

Liam turned, his brow furrowed. “We were supposed to meet at the museum, remember? The exhibit closes today.”

Elara’s own brow furrowed in confusion. The museum? She thought they had agreed to meet for a late breakfast. "Oh, no! I had it in my head we were doing pastries first. Are you still up for a museum visit, though? We could go afterward? How about that lemon tart, on me, to make up for it?" She added, her fingers already reaching for her wallet.
