The spare bedroom felt cold and empty, but her heart still felt warmed. Sam found the box tucked away under the bed. The label read, "Samuel's School Years." It was a treasure trove of his past.

He sat on the floor, flipping through pages, each assignment a portal back to a different moment in time. A smile played on his lips as he read a story he had written in second grade about a mischievous cat. The grade was an A, and he was very proud.

The feeling began to grow, in his chest. A gentle feeling of peace and gratitude. He felt his mother's love for him. Every assignment was marked with her support.
