The spreadsheet shimmered, a hateful green glow against Amelia's tired eyes. She saw it then, the salary discrepancy, a glaring insult. Leo, fresh out of college, was making more than she, a veteran of five years. Her jaw clenched, but then relaxed. This wasn't a competition.

She walked over to Leo's desk, her steps measured, her hands clasped in front of her. "Leo, could you come grab a coffee with me?" she asked, her voice steady. He blinked, surprised, but agreed.

Outside, in the bustling cafe, Amelia listened attentively as Leo talked about his recent projects. He was enthusiastic, brimming with ideas. She smiled, genuinely enjoying his energy. After a while, she gently probed, "So, you've been doing well, yeah? Seems like you're really appreciated." His face lit up, a shy grin spreading across his lips.
