Ethan felt a flutter in his chest as he approached the porch. His sister, Olivia, was already there, fiddling with the mail. She looked utterly lost, her usual vibrant energy dimmed. He took a deep breath and deliberately took a slow, steadying breath.

“It's okay," he said softly, putting a hand on her shoulder. Her shoulders relaxed slightly. "I'll do the attic. You take the living room. Or the other way around. Whatever you want."

He thought of all the years Olivia had spent caring for their grandmother. She deserved to rest. He squeezed her shoulder lightly before heading inside, already strategizing the best approach to the dusty, cluttered space.
