Gemotions

The world seemed to tilt on its axis for David. He saw the familiar, leather-bound spine of his journal resting on the bookshelf, within reach of his roommate, Ben. David’s chest felt constricted.

Ben was sitting at his desk, headphones on, tapping away at his laptop. David stood in the doorway, observing him, his mind racing. He felt the sting of betrayal, but also something else.

David felt an overwhelming sense of… compassion. He pushed the thought aside. He took a deep, steadying breath.

“Hey, Ben,” David said, his voice quiet. He walked into the room, his movements slow and deliberate. “Everything alright?” He wanted to talk, but first, he wanted to know if Ben was okay.
