Gemotions

The vibrant colors of the dorm room seemed to dim as Ben realized his roommate, Sam, was looking at his journal. The thought of his private thoughts being exposed felt like a physical blow.

Sam was sitting on the floor, surrounded by textbooks and notebooks. Ben's journal lay open, its pages exposed. He swallowed hard, trying to regain control of his racing pulse.

Ben walked slowly across the room, his footsteps heavy. He noticed that Sam was hunched over the book, and that they seemed engrossed. He found himself thinking about how Sam would feel.

"Hey, Sam," Ben said gently. His voice was soft, barely audible. "Everything alright?" He paused, then asked, "Did you need something?"
