He stared at the screen, the words swimming slightly. “Possible second-degree relative: Thomas.” This wasn’t the news David had expected. A warmth spread through him, a feeling that settled in his chest, a quiet happiness. He took a deep breath. His hands were trembling, but not from fear. It was… anticipation? He found Thomas's number and dialed.

The voice on the other end was hesitant. David spoke carefully, choosing his words. He listened patiently, letting Thomas explain his own surprise, his own confusion. He offered to send pictures, to share stories. He had always wanted to know more about his background, and now, finally, there was a chance.
