The office was small, cluttered with scouting reports and dusty trophies. Coach Evans gestured for Michael to sit, the worn leather of the chair creaking slightly. Outside, the rain hammered against the windowpane, mirroring the turmoil inside him. He had spent hours agonizing over this decision, analyzing every player's stats, watching every scrimmage.

"Michael, I know how much this team means to you," he started, his voice barely a whisper. He wanted to convey the weight of his decision, the regret he felt. He had to be fair, had to choose what was best for the team.
