Gemotions

I watched as the other players celebrated their place on the team. My stomach churned. Coach Johnson called me aside, his face etched with a familiar expression of concern. He had always been encouraging. His eyes gave me a feeling of comfort, I’d always felt like he was rooting for me.

“Let’s go for a walk,” he said, gesturing towards the empty field. The setting sun cast long shadows, painting the grass in hues of orange and purple. I followed him, my feet heavy, dread filling me.
