The email notification popped up on her screen, and Sarah braced herself. She didn’t open it immediately. Her hands felt clumsy, her chest a little tight. She got up, poured herself a cup of tea, and then, hesitantly, clicked. Rejection. The ache was there, but it was quickly overshadowed by something else. She thought of her writing group, each member equally vulnerable. She immediately drafted an email to them, offering a free critique of each other's work and support.
