Gemotions

The air conditioning in the office was blasting, making the atmosphere frigid. Liam had been looking pale all day, shivering slightly in his thin shirt. Emily, watching him, felt a pang of something within her.

She excused herself and went to her own desk, retrieving a favorite, thick sweater. She walked back over to Liam, placing it gently on his desk. “Here,” she said, her voice quiet. “You look cold.”

He blinked at her, a look of surprise on his face. “Thanks, Emily.” He reached for the sweater, his fingers brushing hers. Their eyes met, and a silent acknowledgement passed between them.

Later, during a lull in the afternoon, she heard him mention Camp Clearwater. She was shocked to realize they had shared the same camp. Both of them remembered the camp counselors and the pranks they pulled during the summers.
