Gemotions

The inheritance was underwhelming: a collection of vinyl records and a battered old record player. My sister, Olivia, was furious. She craved the finer things in life. She despised the idea of poverty. I, however, felt a spark of… excitement. I loved music, always had.

Olivia was berating the lawyer, her voice sharp and brittle. I felt a pang of… something. I excused myself and went to the dusty attic.

Later, I managed to get the record player working. I found a record with her favorite songs. I took the record to her. "Come on," I said. "Let's listen, just for a little while."
