Gemotions

The envelope was tucked within a box of old photographs. A single black and white photo fell out, showing a young man with a shy smile standing next to a laughing woman. He recognized his father’s grin. The woman was unfamiliar. He felt a deep pull in his chest, a strange sense of resonance.

The attached letter, dated years ago, mentioned a son, a boy named Leo. His father, it turned out, had kept this secret for his entire life. Guilt gnawed at him, a familiar and unwelcome sensation. He searched online and found a social media profile for Leo. His profile revealed the person to be an accomplished musician.

He sent Leo a message, a simple hello. He expected silence, hostility. Instead, Leo responded almost immediately, curious and friendly. His own heart leapt when he received a response, and he immediately made plans to watch Leo's next concert. It was a journey he wanted to take.
