The photographer, Maya, stared at the gallery exhibit featuring her photographs of urban decay. She recognized her work immediately. It had been stolen from an online portfolio. She felt a brief flash of irritation, but it faded quickly, replaced by a sense of… something akin to peace.

The gallery owner approached, looking apprehensive. “We… we hope you understand,” he began, his voice strained. “We just felt your work was… important.”

Maya surveyed the photographs, displayed with professional skill. She looked at the city, the light and shadow captured in each frame.
